Hello my name is Billy "Flip" McCoy. I am a second generation tattoo artist. My father ( "Elvis" Bill McCoy) is also a tattooer and is my main influence in becoming a tattoo artist. From an early age i could remember coming into Steve"s with my Dad and being so facinated by the whole enviroment of the shop. Ever since that first day of coming to the tattoo shop and watching the artists work, I knew that this is what I wanted to do.
At the age of 13 I started helping around the shop. Making needles, scrubbing tubes, answering phones, etc. At 15 i started a tattoo apprenticeship under Don-e Duv.
At 17 in the spring of 2005 I finished my apprenticeship and started tattooing our walk-in customers.
After I had been tattooing for about a year Don-e and I decided to close our shop down and move on to other shops. I bounced around for about a year, working at some smaller studios around Wisconsin until i landed my spot here at Steve's and Spike-O-Matic in the summer of 2007.
Working for this shop has given me a great oppertunity to focus on my art, and become a better tattoo artist. Im learning new stuff everyday, and getting better with every tattoo. I have the great artists who work with me to thank for that.
Thank you Don-e, Dad, Steve, Spike, and most of all Stephanie. If it wasnt for you I wouldnt be here.
